National Emergency Grant (NEG)

The National Emergency Grant helps dislocated workers in airline and tourism-related industries in Texas as a result of 9/11.They will provide re-employment assistance for approximately 5,200 workers.

The Texas Workforce Commission is the grantee and local workforce development boards will be the project operators. The money will supplement existing re-employment programs offered by the state. Services include: outreach and recruitment, job development, job search assistance, basic skills training, literacy training and job placement.

The funds will aid laid off workers from Continental and American Airlines as well as Boeing, Vought, LSG Sky Chefs and Gate Gourmet.
